The RISE charity was set up to address educational disadvantage in rural India and to promote global citizenship. RISE works on three projects:
Yearn to Learn: an intervention programme designed to improve literacy rates of 10 year-old children in rural West Bengal, India who are most at risk of dropping out of school.
Enterprise Challenge: a unique after-school programme for schools that connects students in the UK and rural India through social enterprise
Survival Week: an exciting new challenge for students in the UK to get sponsored to go without a modern day “essential” - such as an mp3 player or a games console - for a week, to encourage them to reflect on the realities of life for young people in rural India.
Susie Lawrence supports RISE by volunteering as a judge at the Dragons' Den event, the culmination of the Enterprise challenge and by providing strategic advice to the organisation.
